Co-operation

It helps when painting a horse, that the horse has no complaints about
the colour intended. I have been working on and off on this PS Pebbles
WB for a couple weeks now, and even though we haven't had anywhere near
as many arguements as the last horse I painted,
there has been some uncertainty as to what colour he actually wants to
be! First it was dun, after he got some darker splotches on him I
decided he needed to be a bit darker, so I though bay, like Momentum, but alas, he doesn't want to be that dark and looked to me more flaxen liver chestnut.

This was him at about 9.30 this morning. I have put another couple of layers on him since, but he isn't much darker.
As he is now, he is very close to just needing the details done and then he will be done.

DIY Sharks Teeth

As much for everyone else as it is for me so I don't lose this great post, I'm sharing it here.

Desktop Stables is a favourite of mine, though I don't often visit her blog, I love Nichelle's pictures and the content is a good read as well.

At the moment she's in the process of creating a (very lovely looking) arabian costume.
This is something I would like to make at some stage, but first I think
a traditional arab in my collection would be helpful! I'm not too keen
on the fiddliness that will more than likely be involved in making a
costume for my classics boy.
I am definitely one of those hobbyists who, if something can be done on
a budget or DIY, will be doing just that! It only just dawned on me
what sharks teeth are actually used for, still not sure on the whole
point of using them, but they look good!

And the whole point of this post, Nichelle has shown how she made hers. To me, they look just as good as the etched ones, but perhaps that is because I am not used to seeing them or something.

My New Herd Members

My two new boys arrived, and I think they will be the last for awhile,
not that I've had that many newbies recently anyway! I took some
pictures of them, but they're not very good, I haven't had time to get
them out this weekend either to take decent pics. But, here they are
anyway.
This one was more of a 'spur of the moment' buy, but I'm pleased I got
him! He's the 2007 JCPenney Spanish Horse Family Andalusian, he's more
of a bay roan than the light bay they say he is on the Identify Your Breyer website.
I just LOVE his face!! The blaze is just lovely! Though the picture does it no justice what-so-ever!
I really quite like this mold, it's so much nicer than it looked to me in pictures.

And then there is this boy, one of the Treasure Hunt Silver's from
2007. He is really quite lovely in person, again, the photo's are
really bad!!
And he looks really neat in western!! I think I need a smaller saddle to fit him better though, but the idea is there!

Frustration and neglect

Oops! Ok, I knew I hadn't posted for awhile, but it's been almost a
MONTH!! I guess it's not fair to blame it entirely on Blogger changing
the darned layout on me, I only just got round to changing it back to
the original basic one today, only to find a note up the top saying it
will be deleted in the coming months! How can they do that!! It's the
only bloomin layout that works on this stupid computer here at home! If
they go and delete it then that means I will not be able to post from
home AT ALL, and I sure as heck won't be doing anything from school, so
it might be a high possibility that I will go to WordPress
if Blogger goes ahead and deletes the basic format. Grr, why do they
have to go and "fix" what's not broken, what's working perfectly fine.
Right, rant over. I'm pleased to have my blog back in working order for
now at least.
Not much modelly has been happening here, I was naughty and bought a
couple of horses which really hurt my bank account after the spending
spree I have been doing lately, they are in transit as I write this and
should be here in teh next couple of days. They are being accompanied
by some Apoxie Sculpt as well, so some of these limbless horses here
can finally be put back together!
I'm quite excited about the new Breyer sculpture
by Brigitte Eberl of Totilas, he looks to be a rather fun looking
performance prospect. I can't wait for him to come out in November!
Winter is definitely setting in here, I don't think there has been any
frosts here yet, just really heavy fogs, cold mornings and rain, so far
when I say it's rained, it has hosed down, yesterday we had thunder and
all! Oh well, lazy days inside by the fire are coming! That would have
to be my favourite part of winter.
Even after a month I don't have overly much to say! So I'll leave you
with this picture I found on a blog post that made me laugh, so many
times I have seen this happen and it never seems to get old, not much
fun for the kid though!
