Slightly Disappointed

Something good to the end of a rather bad day. Mum came home with the
horses I got my Nan to buy for me off eBay. These two little guys I
planned on repainting, but the one on the left I may leave OF, her
(yep, no parts!!) colour is quite nice, the other one however, has a
few marks, she he'll be given new clothes at some stage.

And just for the fun of it, and because there was a whole conversation on teeny tiny herds on MECA, this is my current MM herd.
Left to right - BM Minuet (CM), 2 bodies, new nameless OF, Latte (OF) and the other new nameless guy.

This is the disappointment in them all,
I got his guy because he looked so darn neat in the pic, and he does in
this pic as well.
The worst thing, is this, his symmetrical appy pattern.
Poor guy is (just a little bit) splay footed.

And I don't really like the glossy finish he has. Along with his blobby
hooves, my other Chips boy has way way more hoof definition than this
one. Oh well, maybe he will grow on me, if not, I'll attack him with
some paint or the craft knife and make his pattern a bit more
realistic.
He does have a cut face though, I'll give him that!

A Variation

What I received in the mail today is somewhat of a first for me, a
variation! An addition to my G3 Pony conga none the less, since I
already had one in the dun colour, I was just going to repaint on of
them, but their colours are so different I think I might just have to
leave them both OF!
The
one on the left is the one I got today, her colour is so much softer
and even and less poo like than the other! I'm leaning towards creating
a 'side road' stable just for the ponies and calling it 'Gunnalatta',
Gunnalatta came from my aunty and uncles house, beside their front door
they had a wooden nameplate with the word on it, upon asking mum what
it meant, she said 'well, basically, going to finish it later, gunna
finish it latta', seems appropriate to me!! And it almost seems
pony-ish in my mind. BUT, first I'm having second thoughts on my
changing from Blue Moon Stables to Kismet Lodge....I really am terrible
like that, I can't stick with a decision once it has been made!!
But something I was really proud of over the weekend, we went down to
Christchurch with pony in tow to compete at the NZMHA Nationals show
held thursday to sunday last week. Friday, I managed to win National
Grand Champion Cat. B Obstacle - Youth!!!!! That is indeed a National
title under my belt! And no, I wasn't the only one!! I worked out there
was about 8 kids between the two sections (Junior Youth (under 13) and
Senior Youth (under 18).
I
managed to win myself a trophy for it as well! Can you see it in front
of me there?
There is plenty more pictures from the week to come, but I might save
them for a rainy day, kidding! I will share them over the next few
posts, will just take me awhile to sort through them all.

Inhand Outfits

I was asked a couple days ago for reference pics of some of the outfits
we wear round here, so, in a quick as post, here is some of them, more
to come either tomorrow, or next week when I get back from the Minature
Horse Nationals down south. Enjoy :)

This is Millie...

She
is a Welsh (Riding Pony?) mare born in 1988. around 12.3hh high, she
was measure at 128.5 cm.
She was my best friend for around 5 years until we made the decision to
sell her (to somewhere closer to a vet incase she needed it) April,
must be, 2 years ago now I'd say.
I really would love a model to remember her by, I already have a SM
one, but I would love a bigger one to do performance with. I just can't
seem to find the right one!!!
Breyer Newsworthy seems to fit best so far, but then, being a jumping
mold he seems kind of limited in what I could do. So I thought of
Breyer's Flash, but the body type doesn't really fit overly well, he
could be made to work I guess.
I have had the PS Pony suggested, but that mold doesn't entirely take
my fancy to start with, so I'd rather not go there to make it a
portrait of a horse I loved.
Is there anything else out there that would fit? I don't really care
whether it is a resin, a breyer, or a stone, I just need some ideas to
help me out a bit!!
She loved jumping, she would jump anything and everything, I jumped her
up to a metre and that's where she felt best, I never really tried
anything over that, but smaller heights she just felt really awkward up
to about 85. I'm not sure if all horses are like that or if it was just
her, but I liked to think of it as she was truly a jumping pony! She
hated showing, would do about 2 classes then take herself back to the
float.
We always rode her in a dutch gag because her mouth was so hard, but I
never had to use it, I was always riding her on a loose rein.

At age 21.

second from the left.

Our last ride.

So any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

As Promised

The 'back to models' post this blog so desperately needed!! I don't
remember what my last modelly post was, let alone when, wouldn't
surprise me if it' wasn't all that long ago!
This post, my WIP projects, most likely for the next 6 months!!!
First up, a Schleich Haflinger mare, slightly modified leg arrangement,
to a silver dapple - Dusty! A portrait of Magic's mumma.
Then,
G1 Drafter, curretnly being prepped to be sent away (maybe) to look
something like the pretty boy on the right, I'm seriously thinking
about hairing him as well, any suggestions on what type of mohair to
use?

MW (quarter horse?) of some sort, thinking of making him a base, will be painted chestnut, Reference horse - RR Frenchmans Bully, who popped up when I was looking for a nice ref. colour.

Another being prepped to be sent away, G2 Standardbred to be painted as a portrait of pacer Cardigan Bay.

And
last but not least, G3 Pony, perhaps with some modifications (new
mane/tail, no feathers) to a silver bay pinto, Raid. This wee stallion
is so sweet! He belongs to a friend of ours.

A long time overdue, Kaikoura A&P

I will just post the pics of the horses and some other neat things
about the show this year, I apologize for the lack of posts too, I
really haven't been feeling all that enthusiastic about the models
lately! I do think it is about time for another modelly post though,
maybe tomorrow...
I'm not much in the mood for writing anything either, and I don't have
much to talk about really, so I'll just leave you with the pics, and
any captions I decide are needed!
Me and Dusky

The supreme Miniature, not sure I agree, but he is a lovely colour!! SM G3 Pony colour me thinks..

There were a few people dressed up, after all, it was the 100th Centenary show!

The
next day my brother wanted to see if he could pick up any motors at the
dump, outside there was, a HUGE MODEL HORSE!!!! Well, the mold anyway!
